ROCK EN SEINE 2017

The French Capital is ready to celebrate 3 Days of Music,  with more than 65 bands and 120 000 people

Rock en Seine returns to close the month of August with great headliners, The Londoners of The XX, Beach Fossils presenting their new album, the elegance of Franz Ferdinand, the adrenaline of At The Drive In, the nordic sounds of Mø,  and the beats of the Australian Flume. For three days, on the banks of the Seine, the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud will be able to see the sizes of today's music.

To stay true to the name of the festival, rock will be honored with the feverish duo The Kills, the explosive American Ty Segall, or the singular show of Mac DeMarco.

This new edition will continue to blend generations, nationalities and sounds from Jain's spicy pop to the hip hop of Cypress Hill, not to mention worthy representatives of contemporary electro - French prodigies Fakear and Rone.

Rock en Seine was born in 2003. Today, Rock en Seine is one of the biggest festivals in France and among the important musical events in Europe. It happens every year on the last week-end of August, in a wonderful park just outside Paris.

Every year, the festival invites the most exciting pop and rock bands, from big stars to new talents. Five scenes are arranged in a green French garden, where the audience can discover the actuality of rock, power pop, electro, folk and see exhibitions about rock.

DOMAINE NATIONAL DE SAINT-CLOUD

West of Paris in the department of Hauts-de-Seine stands the 460-hectare Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, a park which has been a listed historic monument since 9 November 1994.

Awarded the official title of a ‘Remarkable Garden of France’, like Vaux-le-Vicomte and Versailles it remains one of André Le Nôtre’s greatest achievements: the architect was able to incorporate the irregularity of the land and the unusual site to create a masterpiece of formal French landscape gardening.

The monumental scale of the formal gardens, their views of the surrounding countryside and their geometric perfection were all achieved through Le Nôtre’s faultless understanding of the estate’s both natural and man-made features.

Although the chateau burnt to the ground in 1870, the gardens and fountains conjure up memories of this princely, royal and then imperial residence, and of the feasts and receptions that were held there and made Saint-Cloud an integral part of French history.

It is here, in this exceptional setting, that Rock en Seine welcomes its artists and audience:

a true human and artistic adventure within a historic monument.

THE new local talents

Just like every year, the Rock en Seine festival will also be a place to discover France’s home-grown future talent. We call these six the Avant Seine, selected by a panel who travelled across France on the hunt for rare gems. So get ready to succumb to the charms of Barbagallo, Tame Impala’s drummer in solo guise (also performing at the Unexpected Festival at the Forum des Halles), Parisian MC Gracy Hopkins, the six-way tribal techno pop of Inüit, the (very) instrumental rock of trio Saintes Lysistrata, the modern post punk of Rendez-Vous, and finally the unfettered electro folk of Thérapie Taxi.

THE HARTCOURT STUDIO

Performances and exhibitions throught the differents editions created a real love story between Rock en Seine and the photogra- phy. Since 5 years, Rock en Seine and the Harcourt Studio used to present a surprising and amazing show taking possesion of a privileged space among the heart of the artist‘s village. Each band have the opportunity to be photographed with the unique savoir faire of the Harcourt Studio. For our 15th birthday, this unexpected union between intemporal glamour and rock’n’roll intensity will be finally revealed to all the festival-goers. Discover these exclusive expo- sition in the heart of the National domain of Saint-Cloud during the festival.
