Alchemy River Song | Dour Nights
A Trilogy Film by Willaris. K & Directed by Yeoseop Yoon
Willaris. K - Alchemy / River Song / Dour Nights
Made by Sydney producer and director Yeoseop Yoon in collaboration with Willaris. K,
the 12-minute short film acts as a video clip trilogy for the track ‘Alchemy’ and two new songs
‘River Song’ and ‘Dour Nights’.
Shot over 3 days in the NSW countryside, the film follows the idea that transformations need an agent;
Alchemy is a chemical change, River Song represents a tidal change and Dour Nights, a disguised change.
Cleverly captured, this forlorn narrative of father and son, matches a soundtrack just as compelling and progressive as the performance.
Tracks ‘River Song’ and ‘Dour Nights’ present audiences with a second and third taste of Willaris’ unique take
on moody electronica, with a depth and level of sophistication in his production yet to be touched by other producers before him.
Willaris. K shares:
"Dour Nights, as represented in the film is the feeling of that moment you let go
of whatever it may be holding you back. It has come through many forms and it's definitely taken the longest out of any other track to finish.
River Song is basically a live, one take iPhone recording. You can actually hear me whisper to myself "Don't fuck it up" in there somewhere. It is the turning point emotionally in the video."
The new music and video follows a busy year for the 23-year old producer Willaris. K, otherwise known as
Jack McAllister who only five months ago, took his first day of a year long annual leave to pursue music full time. With only one track under his belt, Willaris. K has been heralded by national tastemakers as one of the most exciting producers of 2017, supported the likes of Seekae and George Fitzgerald and played explosive sets at Splendour In The Grass, Groovin The Moo, Volumes Festival and more.
Willaris. K recalls:
"After I released Alchemy, the reception to it exceeded my expectations. At that time, I was still working full time as an Electrical and Instrument Technician
(the footsteps you hear throughout are an iPhone recording taken from me walking on a tray I maintained at work) which only left me nights after work to work on new music."
Willaris. K rounds out a big year with the news of his recent signing to one of the world’s largest talent
agencies, WME across Australia, the U.K. and the U.S., joining artists such as
Björk, Daniel Avery, Death Grips, Nicolas Jaar and more.
Willaris. K will be playing a series of shows across Australia’s annual BIGSOUND conference and a run of festivals to close out the year.
