Tashaki Miyaki
New video for ‘City’ taken from forthcoming debut album
’The Dream’ released 07.04.17 [Metropolis Records]
LA based dream pop/shoegaze duo Tashaki Miyaki have issued another video
for a new song included on their forthcoming debut album, ‘The Dream’.
The cinematic video for ‘City' was directed by Kelsey McNamee.
"The song brought to mind the image of a woman
who feels disconnected, someone who floats through spaces and life,"
McNamee explains.
"I was inspired by the portrayal of a lonely woman in Barbara Loden's film ‘Wanda' and the
dynamic in 'Paper Moon’, as well as Los Angeles and the way it can make
you feel isolated."
‘City' follows less than two weeks after a clip for the band’s current single,
‘Girls On T.V.’, which was directed by James Franco and featured Juno Temple.
Tashaki Miyaki have kept it mysterious since their inception. In their early days,
the band’s members often performed under aliases and even the roots of their
moniker remain hazy (though it may or may not have first come from a
mispronunciation of Japanese director Takashi Miike's name).
