TALLSAINT

Tallsaint releases her passive aggressive disco cut 'Skin Deep'.

Preparing to release her debut EP ‘Hard Love’,Tallsaint, alias of Louisa Osborn, gives us one final preview with her biting new track ‘Skin Deep’, out 13th June.

Following the singles ‘Warm Skin’ and ‘Hard Love’, the Leeds based artist nods back to the prickly energy of her past single ‘I’m A Woman (After All)’.

Harnessing her trademark warehouse pop, ‘Skin Deep’ builds trance-like layers, with pulsating synths building up to a release of dark-wave noise. Described by Noiseyas taking “tiny intimacies and making them huge”, Louisa lists the smallest concepts that she augments into industrial hits: “A layered triggered emotion, a set of detailed colours, a heated conversation. But one of the strongest emotions I

can conjure up in myself is the feeling of nostalgia".

”Diverging from this feeling of nostalgia to become an exploration of “conversations I’ve had with people, but then afterwards thinking of everything I could have said,” the track becomes an metaphor for the hidden

hostility of “having to get along with someone you don’t see eye to eye

with".

Inspired by Rachel Weisz’s dance scene in The Favourite, Tallsaint imagined “two people that don’t like each other but have to dance together for whatever reason.” Artificial synths allow Louisa to parallel the pretence: “The notion of it all will only

ever be skin deep, playing pretend since you’d never dance with this

person out of choice, but now, uncomfortably, you’re just that little

bit closer.”

The result is a cutting disco track, in the arena of St. Vincent and Lykke Li. As main tour support for Woman’s Hour’s March UK dates, Tallsaint also supported Self Esteem at Plug in her hometown

of Sheffield and features on BBC Introducing’s Hot List with support at BBC 6 Music. She is now preparing for her first headline shows.

‘Skin Deep’ is available on all platforms from 13th June, ‘Hard Love ’EP out 16th July via

Dance to the Radio.
