PRAA
Marion Lagassat, of her real name, was born in sunny Southern-French town Valence. A child of the ’90s born to music-loving parents, she was exposed early on to Brit-Pop sounds and American Folk and grew up to the beats of 90’s RnB.
From Hitchcock to Tarantino and from Dirty Dancing to West Side Story, Marion spent her childhood watching Films d’Auteurs and American musicals. It was all but natural for her to fly for Los Angeles upon turning 18.
Radio shows and noticed covers on Dailymotion at the age 16 were already promising signs for her future. Through her first Folk project, she managed to tour her home country opening for major acts… In parallel, she joined a psych-rock band playing the organ. Her unlimited passion and curiosity most certainly nurtured her rich and original musical eclecticism.
The young and shy who was hiding beneath her hat and her acoustic guitar gave way Praa. An uninhibited young woman, at ease with herself like a hymn to audacity. Let us rise. Dare. Believe in ourselves.
With a preference for names like, Kaytranada, Madonna and Phoenix, the erudite artist summarises her many influences to create her own sound signature: Dance Soul. All based around a sparse and minimalist production halfway between electronic and organic, jumbled with French savoir-faire enhanced by Timsters – producer of the EP and her partner in the real life.
LOVE: the essential element that Praa puts at the heart of her project.
