Pitchfork Music Festival Paris has announced the first wave of artists to appear at the ninth edition of the festival, which will run from Oct 31st to November 2nd, 2019 at Le Grande Halle de la Villette. This year's festival will feature a more diverse line up than ever before, introducing two new stages focussing on up and coming talent.
 
Tottenham-based grime pioneer & Boys Better Know co-founder Skepta is known for being one of the biggest names on the UK scene and will be appearing at Pitchfork Paris for the first time. 

Chromatics make their long-awaited return to Europe, playing their first French show since 2012 - a chance us all to be seduced anew by Ruth Radelet’s voice and Johnny Jewels’ Italo-disco-synth

pop compositions. They bring associated artists from their revered Italians Do It Better label with  them, Desire and In Mirrors. Charli XCX, progressive neon-pop star and pugnacious girl power prophet, has conquered dance floors across the globe with her catchy tunes and popular refrains and is now set to conquer Grande Halle de la Villette. With style and class spanning a twenty-year career, legendary indie heart-breakers Belle & Sebastian make a welcome return to

Pitchfork Paris.

The festival will also welcome Mura Masa, AKA Alex Crossan, a producer from the Channel Islands with a fondness for synthetic pads and implacable rhythms.

Belgian rapper and producer Hamza continues his musical exploration and will present Paradise, his ambitious first album which was released last March.
 
Joining the established names are a wealth of up and coming artists, such as Ateyaba, a promising French rapper, previously known as Joke; up and coming British rapper Flohio; Master Peace, as well as the rawest rap mixed with hip-hop, grime, and garage of slowthai and Kojey Radical. 

Ezra Collective and Yussef Dayes will pave the way to an experimental and uninhibited jazz

fed on hip-hop and afro-beat.

For an injection of modern and elegant pop music, there's Nilüfer Yanya’s jazzy melodies, the cinematic, blissful synth-pop of Barrie, Swedish singer Korantemaa, the delicate vocals of Jessica Pratt, or the poetic Helado Negro. Then there's Weyes Blood, who blends traditional folk and experimentation; Jackie Mendoza, an intriguing Mexican artist whose music is a fusion of r’n’b, krautrock, latino and synth-pop; the Nashville born Briston Maroney; soul music by Celeste; and Jamila Woods' political soul music. And to top it all off, enigmatic masked country singer Orville Peck will be there, after recently releasing his debut album on Sub Pop. 
 
The three-day festival will feature around 50 different artists and there will be two new stages - bringing the total now to four. La Petite Halle and the Boris Vian auditorium, located next to

and inside the Grande Halle respectively, will each play host to a new stage, welcoming the

future stars of tomorrow. The festival continues to set musical trends boasting its trailblazing

status by inviting indie music’s new guard to take over the new concert spaces. 
 
Between concerts go to the ball pool, fairground rides or roller disco. The festival will also host an independent pop-up record store with a selection of sounds spanning today and yesteryear, carefully curated by Les Balades Sonores. The Klin d’Oeil creators market will once again be back but with a new look to boot, showcasing creative talent and artisans showing off their musically-inspired wares. 

Outside under the Grande Halle’s awning, our favourite Parisian restaurants will be out in fine force, as a whole host of food trucks will be passionately serving up foodie treats that are just as tasty as the music on offer. For your auditory and gustative pleasure, the Cave à Vins wine bar

will be serving up the most perfect music and wine pairing. 
 
For those who like to party hard late into the night, the fun continues over at the Trabendo, which will host three after-parties of unique electro live shows and frenzied DJ sets, in partnership with Red Bull Music.
