It's interesting how life is composed of different elements. We say we are individuals, but how many are in us? If we start to describe our emotions, thoughts, and acts, we can barely recognize only one person. The most interesting thing about it is that art has the power to express a big part of them in one. You look at a painting and you realize how rich is the authors' life or how unbelievable mysterious stories are hidden in there. P-Jay Fidler is from those artists that always have something new to tell, a neverending fairytale inspired by an inner deep self, mixed with a little drop of darkness. The uniqueness of his is the richness and mix between things you would never think of bringing together. Only the genius mind has the strength to experiment and go further than expected. A great man and a great artist, we present P-Jay Fidler.

Es interesante cómo la vida se compone de diferentes elementos. Decimos que somos individuos, pero ¿cuántos hay en nosotros? Si comenzamos a describir nuestras emociones, pensamientos y actos, apenas podemos reconocer a una sola persona. Lo más interesante es que el arte tiene el poder de expresar una gran parte de ellos en uno. Miras una pintura y te das cuenta de cuán rica es la vida de los autores o cuán increíbles historias misteriosas se esconden allí. P-Jay Fidler es de esos narradores que siempre tienen algo nuevo que contar, un cuento de hadas interminable inspirado de un ser interior profundo, mezclado con una pequeña gota de oscuridad. La singularidad de él es la riqueza y la mezcla entre cosas que nunca pensarías en unir. Solo la mente de un genio tiene la fuerza para experimentar e ir más allá de lo esperado. Bizzarre: You have three amazing daughters. If they could present yourself, how would they do it?
P-Jay Fidler: Even though they are all very artistic all 3 of my Daughters represent me in very different ways. London is super creative, kind, caring and very empathetic. Allie loves to express herself through dance and is very rhythmic. And Olivia loves to sing and build intricate structures for her toys. They all 3 can be very stubborn but I like to think they get that from my wife!
B: The artworks are the result of our state of mind. If you were a psychologist, how would you describe yours after looking at your paintings?
PF: Psychologist: “This guy seems super well balanced, no issues here…."
B: How art makes the world a better place?
PF: I think as people most of us get into monotonous routines. Be it work, school or just life in general. Art is a great way to break up these routines. Either Making it or viewing it, art gives us a chance to question everything around us and to see things that never existed before. It gives us a chance to really be free.
B : How did creating a family changed your perspective of art?
PF: I sometimes struggle with the concept of a piece versus just creating things. As I watch my daughters play, paint, or draw I realize they don’t care about concepts so much. They are just endlessly creating. I have mainly learned from them not to take it so seriously. Not every painting is going to be great and it’s more important to just create then overthink things. My kids are also my biggest critics. I love when they explain to me what my paintings are about, it gives me a whole new insight of how the work is viewed and to hear a 5-year-old explain to you the meaning of your work is hilarious.
B: I always ask myself...
PF: I always ask myself “What the F*** does this mean?!”
B: Politics and art, what do you think about it?
PF: I think they are polar opposites and should stay far away from each other, but I also understand how art can sway political opinions and how politics can influence art. Politics are about oppression and rules where art is about freedom and creativity. That being said, there are some great pieces of art based on the politics of the time.
B: What is the biggest struggle as an artist?
PF: My biggest struggle as an artist is overthinking things and being overly sensitive to the viewer. I have had to learn that first and foremost I am painting for myself and that my only responsibility as an artist is to be true to the piece that is being created. That's a hard concept because, in reality, we all care too much about others' opinions and how a piece will be perceived. That statement is easier said than done at times...
B: I am just a human with the special power to...
PF: I am just a human with the special power to…” be a positive role model in my children’s life and to remind them to be creative, stay true, be honest and always stay humble. I also have the power to trick them into pulling my finger even though they all know what the result will be"
B: If your life right now could be represented by a song, which one would it be? PF: What Did My Lover Say? (It Always Had to Go This Way). By Wolf Parade
B: Give advice to someone that wants to be a successful artist.
PF: My advice is You can’t win if you don’t play. Just go for it and ride the wave as it comes. Stay true to your creativity as that’s the only thing you really have control of in this business and the more you work the luckier you will be.

Bizzarre: Tienes tres hijas increíbles. Si pudieran presentarse, ¿cómo lo harían?
P-Jay Fidler: Aunque todas son muy artísticos, mis 3 Hijas me representan de maneras muy diferentes. Londres es súper creativa, amable, cariñosa y muy empática. A Allie le encanta expresarse a través del baile y es muy rítmica. Y a Olivia le encanta cantar y construir estructuras complejas para sus juguetes. ¡Las 3 pueden ser muy tercas, pero me gusta pensar que lo obtienen de mi esposa!
B: Las obras de arte son el resultado de nuestro estado mental. Si fueras psicólogo, ¿cómo describirías el tuyo después de mirar tus pinturas?
PF: Psicólogo: "Este tipo parece súper bien equilibrado, no hay problemas aquí ...".
B: ¿Cómo el arte hace del mundo un lugar mejor?
PF: Creo que, como personas, la mayoría de nosotros tenemos rutinas monótonas. Ya sea en el trabajo, la escuela o simplemente la vida en general. El arte es una excelente manera de romper estas rutinas. Ya sea haciéndolo o viéndolo, el arte nos da la oportunidad de cuestionar todo lo que nos rodea y ver cosas que nunca antes existieron. Nos da la oportunidad de ser realmente libres.
B: ¿Cómo la creación de una familia cambió tu perspectiva del arte?
PF: A veces lucho con el concepto de una pieza en lugar de simplemente crear cosas. Mientras veo a mis hijas jugar, pintar o dibujar, me doy cuenta de que no les importan tanto los conceptos. Simplemente están creando infinitamente. Principalmente he aprendido de ellas a no tomarlo tan en serio. No todas las pinturas van a ser geniales y es más importante crear que pensar demasiado. Mis hijas también son mis mayores críticos. Me encanta cuando me explican de qué se tratan mis pinturas, me da una idea completamente nueva de cómo se ve el trabajo y escuchar a un niño de 5 años explicarte el significado de tu trabajo es muy gracioso.
B: Siempre me pregunto ...
PF: Siempre me pregunto "¿Qué demonios significa esto?"
B: Política y arte, ¿qué te parece?
PF: Creo que son polos opuestos y deberían mantenerse alejados entre sí, pero también entiendo cómo el arte puede influir en las opiniones políticas y cómo la política puede influir en el arte. La política trata sobre la opresión y las reglas donde el arte trata sobre la libertad y la creatividad. Dicho esto, hay algunas grandes obras de arte basadas en la política de la época.
B: ¿Cuál es la mayor lucha como artista?
PF: Mi mayor lucha como artista es pensar demasiado y ser demasiado sensible al espectador. He tenido que aprender que, ante todo, estoy pintando para mí y que mi única responsabilidad como artista es ser fiel a la pieza que se está creando. Ese es un concepto difícil porque, en realidad, a todos nos importan demasiado las opiniones de los demás y cómo se percibirá una pieza. Esa afirmación es más fácil decirlo que hacerlo a veces...
B: Solo soy un humano con el poder especial de...
PF: Solo soy un humano con el poder especial de..."ser un modelo positivo a seguir en la vida de mis hijas y recordarles que sean creativas, sean sinceras, honestas y siempre humildes. También tengo el poder de engañarlas para que tiren de mi dedo a pesar de que todos saben cuál será el resultado".
B: Si tu vida en este momento pudiera ser representada por una canción, ¿cuál sería?
PF: "¿Qué dijo mi amante?" (Siempre tenía que ir por este camino). Por Wolf Parade
B: Dé consejos a alguien que quiera ser un artista exitoso.
PF: Mi consejo es que no puedes ganar si no juegas. Simplemente anímate y monta la ola como viene. Manténgase fiel a su creatividad, ya que eso es lo único que realmente tiene control en este negocio y cuanto más trabaje, más suerte tendrá.
