Lofi-pop duo Malihini will release his first album ‘Hopefully again’ via Memphis Industrie on March 1st.

Produced by Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Ghostpoet, Darkstar), 'Hopefully, Again' was written in Sicilia and recorded at Giant Wafer Studios in Wales. 

The roman couple Giampaolo Speziale and Federica Caiozzo aka Malihini reveal their first single and title track “Hopefuly Again’’, accompanied with a video filmed by the duo himself during their trips in Roma, Portugal, Sicilia, Iceland and London. 

 

Their name means « newcomers » in Hawaiian but Malihini approach their music exclusively through real-world experiences, with an sophisticated emotional intelligence. Their typical musical world evokes a European pop’s modern elegance, comparable to Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jose Gonzalez and Our Broken Garden’s styles. 

 

Wether their songs are about love or not, they remain fascinating and seductive, navigating with dexterity between emotional light and shade. "Hopefully again" is a typical example: the languishing drum and electric guitar suggest a sort of conversation between lovers - Caoizzo in the first verse and Speziale in the second, both joining at the time of the chorus "Love is coming back" .

 

Malihini embody the « newcomers » delicateness through rush, confidence and synergy of a young band having found his proper language.
