Flavien Berger meditates on time travel in the futuristic 'Deadline' video.

Artist Flavien Berger has released his latest and greatest creation in form of the futuristic video for 'Deadline'. As the track's steely synth lines cascade through the starry highway, the surreal clip witnesses Flavien floating in transit to his inevitable destination. And all gloriously continues to

riff on the theme of time and travel explored on Berger's feted 2018 record 'Contre-Temps'.

"With 'Contre-Temps' Flavien Berger talks to us about the tragedy of the times when we want to turn back the clock. And we can’t, no matter what. More specifically in the 'Deadline' video, this speaks of the

anxiety of being expected at a pivotal moment, yet feeling you’re

already en route before you could reflect on the final destination.

This clip wants to take you on this journey, a crossing echoing

Flavien Berger’s dreams.

Welcome to the creative universe of Flavien Berger, a French synth pop cosmonaut who mixes electronics, dream pop and psychedelia to spellbinding effect. Flavien's been stealthily busy

over the past few years, releasing his debut record ‘Léviathan’, supporting

Christine and the Queens, and scoring César and Golden Lion

award-winning films.

End of last year his second album 'Contre-Temps' propelled Flavien to Les Inrocks cover star glory. And rightly so: 'Contre-Temps' is an 80s analog dream of the future and for fans of

Ariel Pink and John Maus, Air's 'Moon Safari' and Caribou.

In 2014, Flavien Berger got himself noticed with the release of two EPs: his first record

‘Glitter Glaze’, a blend of blues and pinks, and ‘Mars Balnéaire’, the holiday

scrapbook of a science-fiction story. A support slot with

Christine and the Queens followed, playing on their

French Zénith tour.

One year later Flavien Berger released his first album ‘Léviathan’, a fairground water ride with extreme ups-and-downs, veering from the waters surface to its mysterious depths. A

multi-episode voyage littered with fragments of a narration built on mirrors, riddles

and a sonar labyrinth ending with a final monster. That’s how much of a tale Flavien

tells in his music.

Additionally Flavien’s scored several films: in 2013, he composed the soundtrack for ‘Mala Mala’, a film which dived into the depths of Puerto Rico’s LGBT community. He worked on all of

Céline Devaux’s films, leading him to write the OST of short films ‘Le Repas Dominical’

(winner of Best Animated Short Film at the Césars) and ‘Gros Chagrin’ (Winner of the

Golden Lion for Best Short Film at the Venice Film Festival). More recently, he started

taking part in meta-cinema games; a unique and ephemeral cinematic experience

in the form of a one-continuous take at the Paris Opéra Bastille. Flavien filmed

and starred in the production, all of which was livestreamed.

While dedicating himself to writing his second album ‘Contre-Temps’, Flavien took on multiple collaborations. With Collectif_sin~, he used dream machines to question sound. He also

featured on Etienne Daho’s latest album on ‘Après le Blitz’, on a tribute compilation

for Yves Simon and was remixed by duet Paradis. For the 57th International Art

Exhibition in Venice, Xavier Veilhan invited him to perform at the National

French Pavilion alongside Infinite Bisous.
