ETOIMOI

Present their new single & video for “Learning the Clock" feat. Dog in The Snow

the last single before the release of the debut LP "Growth"

“Learning the Clock” is the very last song to be unveiled before the publication of Etoimoi’s

first LP “Growth” and the label Federacion de Universos Pop (FUP) releases it as a single.
Following previous singles (the instrumental “Theme III [El Método]” and “Breed”, featuring
Johanna AmelieÉtoimoi come back with British singer-songwriter Helen Brown (Dog in the
Snow
) in a new vocal collaboration.
The lyrics were inspired by drunk whatsapp excerpts from conversations after a two-year-old
catastrophic breakup. Étoimoi mix ironically gloomy textures with undecided harmonies, only to
conclude with one oniric leap where somebody screams away into irrelevance. In the attached
clip - by Jessica Chautems and Morgane Frund (Lausanne, Switzerland) -, a girl walks in the
Swiss forest. She holds an origami ship that she will later sink gently into a lake in a gesture that
seems to be drawn from Jorge Manrique’s poetry. She plays the role of the overarching voice
telling all floating things they will soon or later drown, just as Manrique’s relentlessly unequivocal
reminder that all rivers end up in the sea.
Étoimoi keep taking advantage of their anonymity and insignificance in the Spanish music scene
to build up pretentious cheap bedroom pop. But, above all, they keep taking advantage of other
people’s time and talent, be it Helen, Jessica or Morgane.
The mix credits belong to Alberto Lucendo, mastering was performed by Freddy Knopp (Listeners,
Berlin). All the recordings were self-recorded in our rooms between Heraklion (Greece), Lausanne
(Switzerland), Castelló and Barcelona (Spain). Vocals were recorded by Helen Brown in

Brighton (UK).

Back in 2013, Hèctor moved to Heraklion (Crete) and Omar to Barcelona. They had shared the
stage in die Borts, but after a couple years in other projects, that summer they started what would
eventually become Étoimoi. As a continuation to unfinished previous attempts, Étoimoi grows as an
experimental duo in a dark area between the realms of ambient and pop, which owes a great deal
to the collaborations that from time to time jump in.
