Ellis might be a voice you’ve heard before, but never in such a sun drenched fashion as here. Her full name is Ellen Sofie Mosebekk and her vocals has been featured on several tracks by Norwegian electronica producer Snasen, including Tilløp til dramatikk from

his break through EP Failing Upwards.

Ellis reunited with Snasen in his studio when she brought a set of songs she recorded with her previous band Ellen & Gutta that where never released.

Ellis and Snasen thought that there was gold hidden here and reworked the tracks together.

The songs on her upcoming debut album ‘Hverdag & fest’ (which can be translated to ‘weekdays and parties) are reworks of old ska, reggae, rocksteady classics in addition

to a Beyoncé song and an Ellis original – all with lyrics in Ellis’ native language Norwegian.

Her debut single Ja Ja is a new version of the Johnny Osbourne classic Jah Promise.

Ellis’ vocals are fanastic as allways, and Snasen proves himself as a producer that can handle more than just dark electronics.

The video was shot by Kyrre Rydsaa at a Harness racing course  in Oslo. I was six months pregnant with my second child.

We had such a great day among the race horses. It’s really a fascinating world of it’s own at the race track.

We live nearby and I love hearing the sound of the speaker voice when they have  evening races. So I’ve always wanted to make

my video there.

This dubby combination of Nordic coolness with sunny grooves is sure to melt all the snow up here in Norway. We just hope it doesn’t do too much damage to the climate.
