ALEXANDER CARSON
Alexander Carson releases his haunting new single taken from his debut solo album ‘Ellipsism’.
“There’s no thing as ghosts but I’d take an ethereal host to talk to you one last time.” - Ghosts
Ghosts is the haunting new single taken from Alexander Carson’s debut solo album ‘Ellipsism’.
In one-song Ghosts encapsulates all of the themes swirling around the ethereal, melancholy
long-player ‘Ellipsism’: Love, death and madness.
Ghost is essentially a love song about the nevitability of death and an exploration of love as the driving force in life.
The song’s mixture of macabre and sentimentality is at the heart of Carson’s song-writing, with its piano-led and deeply intimate feel recalling artists such as Benjamin Clementine or
Rufus Wainwright, mixed with the neoclassical tinkerings of Nils Fraham and the
downtempo production of James Blake, with Carson introducing a more electronic
feel elsewhere on the album.
Alexander Carson is Norfolk-born, London-based singer, songwriter and composer. He is known as the frontman and founding member of the genre-fluid quintet Wooden Arms but behind the scenes he’s been working with artists such as Moses Sumney, EX: RE and Jamie T; all
the while honing hisown unique style for his first solo venture, ‘Ellipsism’.
Ghost was recorded and produced by Carson in his home studio with some co-production, recording and mastering from Dan Jeffries.
Ghost is released digitally on 15 March with ‘Ellipsism’ following on 12 April digitally via
Diversion Records and on CD and vinyl within the UK via Roundtable Records.
